The first aged rum from pot stills, Papa Rouyo Éritaj is a balance between the aromatics of pure double-distilled cane juice and the roundness provided by the barrel. This first Single Cask is the “eritaj” of a cultivation method passed down from generations of farmers and the return to traditional distillation in pot stills.
Papa Rouyo 2021 Single Cask Eritaj | 700ML Tasting Notes
Nose: The first notes evoke cocoa, bark of orange and a vegetal freshness.
Palate: The attack offers supple tannins. The middle of mouth reveals an opulence specific to the double distillation.
Finish: Elegant long lasting aftertaste.
Distillery Information
Papa Rouyo is the nickname of Charles Albert Ruscade, a sugar cane grower born in 1900 in Le Moule, East Grande-Terre, who loved his land and his sugar cane. The distillery project is in part a tribute to him, co-founded with two of his descendants: his grandson Judes Galli and his great-grandson Joris Galli.
