TMade from crystallized sugar (like other Koloa offerings), the Koloa Gold is said to be “slightly sweet, with a burnt sugar and candied lemon finish.” Caramelized sugar (yum!) rather than barrel aging is the source of the golden hue. Only a year after Koloa began operations, the Kaua”i Gold was awarded a silver medal at the Fifth Annual International Rum Festival.
