Description
Whiskey: Talisker 1978 40 Year Old Bodega Series Single Malt Scotch
This 1978-vintage Talisker is the first entry in the Bodega Series, a range of whiskies showcasing the distilleries connection with sherry houses and sherry casks since its 1830 founding. This inaugural entry is a marriage of five sherry butts, filled for about three months with 40-year-old Talisker. Before arriving in Scotland, the casks were part of a solera, maturing Delgado Zuleta’s award-winning Quo Vadis amontillado sherry.

The oldest official bottling from Talisker distillery on Skye, this 1978 vintage has been matured in American oak barrels before a period of finishing in 40 year old Amontillado sherry casks from one of the oldest bodegas in Jerez, Spain. The first in The Bodega Series of cask-finished releases, this method of finishing harks back to the way Talisker would have been made at the beginning of the 20th century.

Distillery Information
Talisker Distillery is heavily influenced by its location on the Isle of Skye — it embodies the spirit of the rocky, storm-lashed island and its strong, steadfast people. The distillery was founded in 1830 by Hugh and Kenneth MacAskill, who leased the Talisker House from Clan MacLeod and eventually converted it into a distillery.
