This is the 2019 release of Springbank’s excellent 21 year old single malt Scotch whisky! For this particular edition, the distillers in Campbeltown used whisky drawn both Port casks and rum casks – 45% came from Port casks while the remaining 55% was drawn from rum casks. It was bottled at 46% ABV.

Nose:very exotic, light-fruity and clearly bourbon-heavy. The sherry seems to play second fiddle here. Exactly mine! Dirty fog from Campbeltown but still a lovely fruity nose with cut wet grass and salivating honey sweetness.

Palate:A full range of wood and fruit. A great mouth with a lot of saliva and strong flavor without becoming bitter. Everything becomes thick and creamy. Strong! In the transition, the malty notes and herbs such as thyme and fennel shimmer through.

Finish: Medium to long and afterwards very drying. But for a long time in the mouth. If it is true that I had the weakest batch 15/52, then I am immediately on the lookout for the so-called offer. If it still exists. Tomek says it’s too expensive for him. He can easily say that he has already emptied one  I definitely want to have a bottle of it. Unicorn malt.

The Springbank distillery is a family-owned single malt whisky distillery on the Kintyre Peninsula in western Scotland. It is owned by J & A Mitchell & Company, who also owns the Glengyle Distillery, the oldest independent bottler, William Cadenheads, and several blended scotch labels.
