Producer Information
Martini is an iconic Italian drinks company, producing vermouth and sparkling wine since 1863. The multinational company was founded by Alessandro Martini, Luigi Rossi and Teofilo Sola in Pessione in northern Italy. Martini is headquartered in Turin, Italy and owned by Bacardi. Since establishment, Martini have been producing the flagship Martini Rosso vermouth with the recipe remaining a company secret for over 150 years. The company has become synonymous with vermouth around the world – by 1903 Martini was sold in 70 countries across all continents and had become a bar staple. Martini’s vermouths are a blend of wine and botanicals with added alcohol and sugar. Base wines typically come from Trebbiano grown in Emilia Romagna and Catarratto grown in Sicily, and are aromatized with a dry blend of herbs, fruits, barks and spices. Martini produces a range of vermouths, the most popular being Martini Rosato, Martini Bianco, the original Martini Rosso, and Martini Extra Dry, a recipe created by Luigi Rossi’s sons. Martini’s sparkling wines are produced by the charmat method at the company’s winery in the hills around Asti in Piedmont. Martini works with the grape varieties Moscato Bianco and Glera to produce sparkling wines from the designated regions of Asti and Prosecco.
