Distillery Information
Cognac Pierre Ferrand (also known as Ferrand Cognac)is a house based in the Grande Champagne region. The business in its current form was founded in 1989, when Alexandre Gabriel purchased the family firm and quickly began to impove its profile. The wider business, Maison Ferrand, also owns Plantation Rum, Citadelle Gin and several other brands. The business is based in the middle of the vineyards at Ars, in the 18th Century Château de Bonbonnet, some 10km (six miles) southwest of Cognac town center. The house also co-owns Logis d’Angeac, a 100 hectare (250 acre) vineyard in the heart of Grande Champagne with a distillery dating back to 1776. The vineyard is located in what is known as the “golden triangle”, a renowned micro-terroir on extremely chalky soils. All of the Cognacs are made entirely from this Grande Champagne fruit. The labeling of the portfolio does not use the standard designations of VS, VSOP and XO. The multi-year blends range from the 1840 Original Formula through to the multi-award-winning Séléction des Anges and the extra-aged Abel and Ancestrale releases.
