This potent liqueur from Iceland is made from from fermented potato mash, and flavored with caraway seeds and dill. There is also, perhaps most noticeably, tons of salted black licorice different from American black licorice due to the addition of salmiak, a confectionary salt that gives it an astringent, salty flavor. A hint of menthol sneaks in on the finish to clean things up. A great option for a challenging, but irresistible celebratory shot, or as a bewildering addition to cocktails.
