Michter’s 2014 10 Year Old Single Barrel Straight Rye Whiskey Tasting Notes
Nose: The nose is relatively restrained, offering modest notes of cinnamon red hots and ripe banana, atop a somewhat gentle vanilla/caramel core.
Palate: The palate is spicier with fresh ginger and mint, more of those red hots, and some smoldering, burnt sugar notes that linger for a while.
Finish: The finish is a bit crunchy with barrel char and a hint of flamed orange peel.
Distillery Information
Bomberger’s Distillery, more recently Michter’s Distillery, is a non-operating distillery facility that was, at the end of the twentieth century, believed to be the oldest remaining such building in the United States. The distillery closed in 1989 and may have since been demolished.
