He is a rockstar of the Japanese whisky world, and his family have been in the alcoholic beverage making industry since the 1600s. Ichiro’s father ran the Hanyu distillery and began experimenting with whisky making until his unfortunate bankruptcy. Ichiro then founded his own distillery, named Chichibu, located in Saitama, just outside of Tokyo. Ichiro’s Malt Chichibu 2011 Single Cask #1179 – Germany Exclusive Whisky Tasting Notes
Nose: Full-bodied, smooth. A mellow peat softly coats the aromatic palette at first, growing more powerful with time.
Palate: Smooth and soft with good sweetness and winter spice.
Finish: Finish is long, spicy and smooth.
Distillery Information
Chichibu distillery is a Japanese whisky distillery. Founded in 2004 by Ichiro Akuto, and operational from 2008, it was the first new Japanese distillery since 1973. It is located at Chichibu, a city in Saitama Prefecture, Japan.
