Distillery Information
Habitation Saint-Étienne (HSE) traces its origins to a historic sugar estate in Martinique dating back to the 19th century. Although distillation now takes place at Distillerie du Simon, aging and blending continue at the original estate, preserving its heritage. Revived in the 1990s by the Hayot family, HSE has become a leading name in AOC Martinique rum, known for innovation and vintage-focused releases. Their approach emphasizes terroir and the natural expression of fresh cane juice rather than heavy wood influence. The “Cuvée de l’An” series captures the identity of a single harvest year, showcasing subtle variations between vintages. The 2016 release stands as a precise, limited expression—elegant, vibrant, and unmistakably agricole in style.
