Distillery Information

The GlenAllachie is an independently-owned Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky distillery. It is located a mile or so south of the town of Aberlour and the River Spey itself. A wide range of Single Malts is produced. The GlenAllachie is also home to the Macnair’s and White Heather brands. The water comes from dam heads over two miles (3km) from the distillery. The Henshead and Blackstank streams flow into Beatschach Burn, which flows to The GlenAllachie. Capacity is 4 million liters of alcohol, though the current owners have reduced output to 600,000 million liters while focusing on Single Malt production. This reduction in turn has allowed a longer fermentation time of 160 hours. Unlike many Scottish distilleries, there are two separate spirit safes which allows the independent operation of the two sets of stills. As the distillery is designed to be gravity fed, there are horizontal condensers which make it easier to maintain a consistent temperature, or modify it to alter the character of the spirit. There are 16 warehouses housing 50,000 casks, with two more traditional low-ceilinged dunnage warehouse in the pipeline.
