Producer Information
Fetzer Vineyards is a Californian winery and label with a wide catalogue of wines and a reputation for pursing sustainable practices. It produces varietal wines from popular California grape varieties including Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Merlot, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. The Fetzer estate began as a ranch, purchased by the Fetzer family in California’s Redwood Valley in 1958. The family eventually converted the barn into a winery and ten years later produced its first commercial vintage, 2,500 cases of a red table blend. It was during the late 1980s that Fetzer began investing in sustainable farming practices and has since garnered a reputation for its commitment to sustainability. The estate has won numerous awards and certifications including becoming the first California winery to run entirely using renewable energy. Fetzer also produces the organic wine label Bonterra whose wine has been vinified at Fetzer since the late 1980s. Wine production now occurs in a facility in Hopland, an area under the greater Mendocino County AVA. Grapes are mostly sourced from regions in the North Coast with the majority of the wines in the Fetzer catalogue carrying the broader California appellation designation.
