Reviews:
- Wine Advocate: a rich bouquet of buttered yellow orchard fruit, wheat toast, peach and honeycomb that’s framed by a touch of oak. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, broad and vinous, with a frothy mousse, a generous core of ripe but tangy fruit, brisk acids, chewy structure and a long, lingering finish.
- William Kelley: Inviting aromas of pear, toasted almonds, dried white flowers, honeycomb, peach and nougat. Full-bodied, elegantly fleshy and enveloping, with ripe but racy acids, a pillowy mousse and a nicely layered core.
Producer Information
Eric Rodez Champagne is available at The Champagne Company and Eric and Martine Rodez are the eighth generations of a family of winemakers (and now with their son, Mickael ninth) established in 1757 in the great Grand Cru of Ambonnay, an excellent Pinot Noir growing area of Champagne with soil rich in chalk, limestone and clay-limestone. Eric has an outstanding know-how, and has worked as an oenologist at Krug where his experience of blending small parcels and multi-vintages going back many years and work with oak barrels shows clearly in his Cuvée des Grands Vintages. Rodez also has enriched experience in various wine regions including Alsace where he mastered organic vineyard practices. Eric Rodez Champagne is a thorough reflection of knowledge and dedication with an outstanding quality that can be seen and tasted in each bottle. Eric Rodez is certified with “Haute Valeur Environnmentale” (HVE) which certifies the organic farming, biodiversity and the responsible use of water in the winery.
