El Rey Zapoteco is a tequila brand that is produced by the Destilería Los Danzantes in Santiago Matatlán, Oaxaca, Mexico. The distillery was founded in 1997 by a group of friends who shared a passion for artisanal mezcal. Over the years, the distillery has grown and expanded, and it now produces a range of premium tequilas and mezcals.El Rey Zapoteco tequila is made using 100% blue Weber agave, which is grown in the highlands of Jalisco. The agave is harvested by hand, and the piñas (the heart of the agave) are roasted in traditional stone ovens before being crushed and fermented. The fermented juice is then double-distilled in copper stills before being aged in oak barrels.
