The story of Champagne J.CHARPENTIER began 4 generations ago. We are independent winegrowers, we work with our own vineyard, harvest our own grapes and vinify the wines by ourselves.Our vineyards are located in the center of the Champagne region, about 12 kilometers from Epernay. They are spread over multiple “crus” – a total of 12 crus and 44 parcels. Our vineyard, by the diversity of its wines, lands and grapes, allows us to offer a large variety of chamapgnes, complete and authentic.The Champagne J. CHARPENTIER grows all three types of grapes : Pinot Meunier, Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay. The majority of the grapes are from black grapes: the Pinot Meunier brings a light and fruity taste, whereas the Pinot Noir builds a more powerful body. The Chardonnay is a white grape and gives a fresh and floral aspect to the wine.Each generation is always striving in the respect of the environment. Today, it goes with the use of : organic fertilizers in our parcels and a permanent cover planting is made over the vineyards during winter or summer. Ground maintenance is done either by plowing or by “cover planting” that can be temporary or permanent, selected or not.Protection of the vineyard is done as needed, mostly according to climatic conditions, always caseby case.
