Buffalo Trace Antique Collection Bourbon Whiskey | 2025 Fall Release Limited Edition Tasting Notes

1. George T. Stagg 2025 Release (142.8 Proof) The titan of the collection. This 15-year, 4-month-old “hazmat” bourbon is uncut, unfiltered, and bottled at a massive 142.8 proof. A 2010 distillate, it’s a powerful and complex bourbon with deep notes of dark chocolate, cherry, and seasoned oak.

2. William Larue Weller 2025 Release (129 Proof) The original wheated bourbon, at barrel proof. This 12-year, 7-month-old “wheater” is a blend of 2010, 2011, and 2013 distillates. Bottled at 129 proof, it’s a luxuriously smooth and rich bourbon with notes of caramel, toffee, and dark cherry.

3. Eagle Rare 17 Year Old 2025 Release (101 Proof) A masterpiece of elegant age. Distilled in spring 2007, this 18-year, 4-month-old bourbon is bottled at 101 proof in tribute to the original brand. With a staggering 89% evaporation loss, what remains is an incredibly refined whiskey with notes of cherry, leather, and sophisticated oak.

4. Sazerac Rye 18 Year Old 2025 Release (90 Proof) The “unicorn” of American rye. This 18-year, 5-month-old rye is a blend of 2006 and 2007 distillates. Bottled at a refined 90 proof, it’s an elegant and complex rye with deep notes of aged oak, dark spice, and rich tobacco.

5. Thomas H. Handy Sazerac Rye 2025 Release (129.8 Proof) The collection’s rye powerhouse. This 6-year, 3-month-old uncut rye is a blend of 2018 and 2019 distillates. Bottled at a fiery 129.8 proof, it’s a bold and spicy expression with notes of mint, citrus, and hot cinnamon.

6. E.H. Taylor, Jr. 15 Year Old 2025 Release (100 Proof) The historic new addition. For the first time, a sixth bottle joins the BTAC. This 15-year, 4-month-old Bottled-in-Bond bourbon was distilled in spring 2010. At 100 proof, it’s a perfectly balanced and mature expression of the E.H. Taylor legacy, with notes of burnt caramel, aged oak, and rye spice.

Distillery Information

Eagle Rare originates from Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, a historic producer known for shaping many of the most sought-after American whiskey releases. Introduced as part of the Antique Collection, the 17-year variant sits apart from the core Eagle Rare 10-year, showcasing deeper maturity and an elevated profile. Extended aging in carefully selected barrels contributes to its signature balance of sweetness and aged wood complexity. Bottled at a consistent proof each year, the limited release draws annual attention from collectors due to its scarcity and reputation. The 2025 edition continues the brand’s emphasis on precision aging, expressive aroma, and lasting depth.
