Distillery Information

Blanton’s is produced at the Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky – the oldest continuously operating distillery in the United States, with roots tracing back to 1775. The distillery has survived fires, floods, Prohibition, and wars, and is now recognized as a U.S. National Historic Landmark. Introduced in 1984 by Master Distiller Elmer T. Lee, Blanton’s was the world’s first commercially available single barrel bourbon. The brand was named after Colonel Albert B. Blanton, who dedicated over 55 years of service to the distillery and was known for handpicking exceptional barrels from the famed Warehouse H. This heritage of meticulous craftsmanship and innovation ensures that each special release – like the 2022 Char No. 4 edition – reflects both the deep history of Kentucky bourbon and the innovative spirit that keeps Blanton’s at the forefront of whiskey excellence.
