Producer Information
The Salzl Seewinkelhof winery in Illmitz is located in the middle of the picturesque lakes and plains of the Neusiedlersee-Seewinkel National Park in Burgenland. The history of the family business goes back to 1840. With Heribert, Josef and Christoph Salzl, three generations are currently working hand in hand to produce authentic wines with the greatest passion and care under the motto “enjoyment and joy of life”. Since 2009 the wines have been made in the new winery? in the middle of the vineyards of Illmitz? vinified. The focus of overall production is red wine, at 75 percent. The regionally typical Zweigelt has emerged as the most important grape variety over the years. In addition to the second local grape variety, Blaufränkisch, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah ensure an international style. The influence of the Pannonian lowlands and Lake Neusiedl as well as the many small salt lakes of the Seewinkel ensure a very special terroir, which gives the wines elegance, freshness and a salty minerality. In addition, there is the optimal soil composition from fine sandy soils, light gravel soils to dark black earth soils. If you would like to try the fine wines, you should register for a tasting.
