Producer Information
François Villard, in the Rhône Valley. The company’s extensive wine portfolio is dedicated in the main to the northern Rhône’s four prolific grape varieties: Syrah for the red wines and Viognier, Marsanne and Roussanne for the white wines.
The vineyards extend over a total of 16 hectares (40 acres), 11 of which are located in the commune of Seyssuel, close to the town of Vienne. Winemaking was common practice in this region as far back as the times of the Roman Empire when the grape Vitis Allobrogica was cultivated and produced in three crus: Sotanum, Taburnum and Heluicum. However, Seyssuel’s vineyards were decimated by the 19th Century phylloxera epidemic and remained largely untouched prior to the arrival of Yves, Pierre and François in the 1990s.
