Producer Information
The Franz Keller winery is located in Oberbergen am Kaiserstuhl, just a few minutes’ drive from the French border. It has always been the French way of life – the “savoir-vivre” – that has driven and inspired the Kellers. This is how Franz Keller Sr. discovered his passion for wines from Bordeaux and Burgundy after the war. In addition to the winery, he then founded his own wine trade in order to import them directly from France. The family business now runs several restaurants, a hotel, the wine trade and also the winery. The spectacular winery building with its green roofs is integrated like a chameleon into the terraced landscape of the picturesque Kaiserstuhl. Absolutely state of the art! The »Schwarzer Adler« is the family’s legendary restaurant. Run by Franz’ wife Irma, it has been awarded at least one Michelin star without interruption from 1969 to 2021. In the meantime, son Franz Junior also cooked up a second star there in the 70s. After a year without a star, whatever the Michelin Guide had to complain about here, a star will shine on the restaurant’s door again in 2022. With the excellent cuisine and the impressive vintage depth of the best wines in the world, the Schwarzer Adler is one of the region’s absolute gourmet hotspots. Matching this, the wines from our own house are also perfect food companions.
