The Quinta do Poeira winery is located in Portugal in the village of Provesende in the famous Douro wine region. Here, winemaker Jorge Moreira creates his portfolio of premium and award-winning Douro wines from the winery’s 9 hectares of vineyards stretching along the Vale do Pinhao. Quinta Poeira’s vineyards are north-facing, which is one of the fundamental factors in the winery’s production style. Summer temperatures in the region are extremely high and so grapes ripen more slowly on north-facing slopes, optimally preserving their wonderful aromas, flavors and acidity balance. The winery itself is laid out in a thoroughly minimalist style. Four traditional and temperature-controlled stone barrels and a vertical wine press make up the equipment here. In the climate-controlled cellar, equipped with thick slate walls, wonderful wines of authentic origin character of the region mature here with a lot of time and great care.
