Producer Information
Weingut Georg Breuer is an award-winning producer in the Rheingau region of Germany. It is best known for its white wines from the Riesling grape variety. The estate was founded in 1880, and has been owned by the Breuer family since the start of the 20th Century. Under Georg Breuer (1910-82) the estate was enlarged and imports greatly increased. Vineyard ownership reached 15 hectares by the 1980s, with further expansion increasing the figure to its current level. Theresa Breuer currently manages the business. She was named Winemaker of the Year for 2016 in the major German magazine Falstaff. Notably, she took over in 2004, at the age of just 20, following the unexpected early passing of her father Bernhard. He had been instrumental in creating the estate’s international reputation. But his daughter has, with the support of other family members, proved up to the task. The estate is also of the Wurzelwerk project, along with Gunderloch in Rheinhessen and Jurtschitsch in Kamptal, Austria. Each provides grapes from one of their top vineyards, to be vinified in the other wineries.
