Producer Information
Evening Land Vineyards is a Californian wine producer, located just south of Portland in Oregon. It specializes in producing high-quality wines from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the estate vineyards which are planted in the Eola-Amity Hills AVA (American Viticultural Area). The estate is based around the Seven Springs vineyard, which was first planted in 1982. The east-facing slopes here, at approximately 2300 feet (700 meters) above sea level provides a favourable altitude for viticulture. The iron-rich volcanic soils that cover the hill have long proved a good terroir for Pinot Noir, which makes up the bulk of production. Evening Land was founded in 2005, and since then, has expanded to also include mulitple vineyards in the Sonoma County appellation. Evening Land makes a range of both single-vineyard and blended wines. Although Oregon is most famous for producing high-quality Pinot Noir, the flagship from the wine portfolio is the Summum Chardonnay which is produced from a small plot of carefully selected estate vineyards. There is multiple Pinot Noir wines produced by Evening Land. A majority of which are fermented in oak with the use of indigenous yeasts, before they are aged in oak for up to 16 months – although the entry-level releases see no oak at all. A Beaujolais-style wine from Gamay Noir, which goes through carbonic fermentation is also included in the collection.
