Reviews:
- James Suckling: Fresh and generous citrus and melon aromas with a hint of mint, plus a juicy palate with very bright acidity, making this an appealing and refreshing dry white. The clean and polished finish makes this very food-friendly. A blend of 85 per cent torrontés and 15 per cent riesling.
Producer Information
Bodega Amalaya was born in 2010 in the high-altitude plains of the Calchaqui Valley in Salta, Argentina. It is the vision of Larissa and Christoph Ehrbar (wine pioneer Donald Hess’s successors). They believed in the unique ’high-vibration’ qualities of Cafayate’s terroir and the ability to craft high-quality, fresh, vibrant and contemporary high-altitude wines. Amalaya has two separate vineyards located on the outskirts of Cafayate. Our San Isidro vineyard sits right below our winery at the foot of the mountain with the same name. The second, Las Mercedes, can be found just outside Cafayate on the road to San Carlos. They create extraordinary high altitude blends from the healthiest sustainably-farmed grapes in the Cafayate Valley. Their wines are easy and fun to drink, and have a luxurious fruit-forward expression, balanced acidity and great freshness.
