Reviews:
- Vinous: Healthy dark red. Hinting at black cherry and licorice. Then juicy and imploded in the mouth, but showing atypical energy for young Clos Vougeot, with its dark fruit flavors sharpened by violet and stony minerality.
- Jasper Morris: Rich ripe purple colour, with impeccable integration of fruit and oak on the nose, exceptional purity of dark red fruit, even a floral touch, which is rare in Clos Vougeot.
Producer Information
Olivier Bernstein is a relative newcomer to Burgundy wines, but has quickly made an impact. The négociant produced his first vintage in 2007, which won wide acclaim from critics like Jancis Robinson and Allen Meadows. The aim here remains essentially the same: to produce wines of the highest possible quality and to forego nothing in a quest to create elegant, sensual and refined wines that can sit comfortably among the top wines of Burgundy.
It is this quest for perfection that has seen Olivier cease production of two of his Premiers Crus in order to focus on his domaine holding in Champeaux, and the seven Grands Crus which are now well established in the range: Charmes-Chambertin; Mazis-Chambertin; Chambertin Clos de Bèze; Chambertin; Clos de la Roche; Bonnes Mares; and Clos de Vougeot.
