- Wine Cellar: Dark red-ruby. Wild but reticent nose offers scents of black raspberry, spices, game, coffee and mint. Then wonderfully rich and surprisingly sweet in the mouth, with a deep core of dark berry, Asian spice and licorice flavors accented by a tangy peppery quality. Expands impressively on the back half, finishing with suave, fine-grained tannins, a captivating blend of sweetness and spiciness, and lingering perfume that goes on and on.
Producer Information
Olivier Bernstein is a relative newcomer to Burgundy wines, but has quickly made an impact. The négociant produced his first vintage in 2007, which won wide acclaim from critics like Jancis Robinson and Allen Meadows. The aim here remains essentially the same: to produce wines of the highest possible quality and to forego nothing in a quest to create elegant, sensual and refined wines that can sit comfortably among the top wines of Burgundy.
It is this quest for perfection that has seen Olivier cease production of two of his Premiers Crus in order to focus on his domaine holding in Champeaux, and the seven Grands Crus which are now well established in the range: Charmes-Chambertin; Mazis-Chambertin; Chambertin Clos de Bèze; Chambertin; Clos de la Roche; Bonnes Mares; and Clos de Vougeot.
