Reviews:
- Wine Advocate: The La Fiorita 2016 Brunello di Montalcino unfolds to dark fruit, cherry, tobacco and sweet spice. This wine shows very nicely, thanks to the balance of its fruit, and is characterized by a delicate sweet note that recalls cassis and wild raspberry. The wine is open and accessible from the start, and that bodes well for those who don’t care to wait and age their Brunello too long. Indeed, I could see this wine matched up nicely to a wood-oven flatbread with shaved truffles layered generously on top. This wine draws its fruit from two sites, Poggio al Sole and Pian Bossolino, and ages in Slavonian oak casks for 24 months.

Producer Information
Fattoria La Fiorita is a wine estate in Montalcino, Tuscany specializing in red wines from the Sangiovese grape variety. Founded in the early 1990s, it has been fully owned since 2014 by American former actress Natalie Oliveros, a part-owner since 2011.On taking over Ms Oliveros instigated a shift to organic viticulture, with certification achieved in 2019. A new vineyard, Giardinello, was planted in 2014, and a new winery and cellar was completed in time for the 2019 harvest. The winery itself lies a short distance to the north of Castelnuovo dell’Abate in the southeast corner of Montalcino. There are just 0.4 hectares (1 acre) of vines on this property, planted around the same time as Giardinello. There are three principal vineyards in different parts of the growing zone, offering varied terroirs.
