Producer Information
Château Picoron is an estate in the commune of Sainte-Colombe, with the Castillon-Côtes de Bordeaux appellation. It produces a range of wines based on the Merlot grape variety. The property covers 4.5 hectares (11 acres) of clay-limestone soils on slopes descending from the plateau of Saint-Émilion. These overlook the Dordogne valley. Until 2019, only Merlot was grown, but some Cabernet Franc has now been planted and will feature in future wines. The estate is currently in coversion to full organiuc practice. The vat room was built in 2014 and on a smaller scale, boasts the facilities found in the best Bordeaux wineries. It contains seven small vats shaped like inversted cones, adapted for specific parcels. Wines are aged in barrel in an underground cellar hewn straight from the rock.
