Producer Information
Azienda Agricola Rivetto is a wine producer based in the Barolo commune and subregion of Serralunga d’Alba, producing wines under the Barolo, Barbaresco, Nebbiolo and Barbera d’Alba titles, among others. It principally produces wines from the region’s flagship red grape, Nebbiolo (it also makes a Langhe Nebbiolo) but also produces a white Nascetta (a rare but often-coveted regional variety) and a sparkling white. Rivetto produces three Barolo wines. The del Comune di Serralunga d’Alba release spends 30 months in large Slavonian oak barrels, while the riserva ages for 40 months, partially in French barriques. The Cru Briccolina wine is aged for 36 months in oak barrels. The vineyards and wines are produced organically (EU certified) and biodynamically (Demeter certified). The wider estate includes a farm run on polyculture principles in Lirano. The history of the estate can be traced back to 1902, when it was founded as a merchant business in Asti, eventually becoming a major trader of wines and grapes in the area. Operations moved to Alba in 1922, where Ercole Rivetto began producing wine. In 1938, Rivetto acquired the Tenuta Loirano vineyard in Serralunga d’Alba, and in 1970, the winery was built.
