Producer Information
Tenuta Patrizia Lamborghini is the wine label of Ferruccio Lamborghini – best known for creating the line of luxury sports cars by the same name. The estate is located in Umbria near Lake Trasimeno in the Colli del Trasimeno wine region but produces wines under the more internationally recognizable Umbria IGT. The estate, which lies just south of the border with Tuscany, on the south side of the Lago Trasimeno lake, has been run by the late Ferruccio’s daughter Patrizia since the 1990s. Its vineyards are planted to Sangiovese, Ciliegolo, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot. The vineyard land spans 32 hectares (80 acres) planted exclusively to red varieties. Tenuta Patrizia Lamborghini produces five Umbria IGT red wines primarily from estate-grown fruit, one white wine from Grechetto, and three sparkling wines from regions within the Veneto. The estate’s primary wine, Campoleone, is a 50-50 blend of Sangiovese and Merlot, with a small portion of fruit coming from vines planted in the 1970s. The wine goes through malolactic fermentation in French barriques, then barrel matures in the same vessels for one year before resting an additional six months in bottle. Tenuta Patrizia Lamborghini’s property also includes a nine-hole golf course and holiday accommodation.
