Already beautiful, yet will be fantastic in four or five years.

• Wine Advocate: This is the inaugural vintage of Tenuta Argentiera’s newest monovarietal wine, a Cabernet Franc from a stunning vineyard that is shaped like a fan (“ventaglio” in Italian) positioned around a solitary oak tree that stands tall against a stunning view of blue seas and umbrella trees. The 2015 Ventaglio embraces that wide panorama with a span of aromas and black fruit flavors. Blackberry and plum cede to smoke, campfire ash, crushed mineral and wet river stone. Those delicate earthy tones add pretty framing to the opulent darkness found inside. To the palate, the wine is fleshed out and rich, but there is less focus here compared to the 2016 vintage that I also tasted during the same sitting.

Tenuta Argentiera Bolgheri is an Italian wine producer situated in Bolgheri on Tuscany’s southern coastline. The 500-hectare (1236-acre) estate produces a collection of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot amoungst others under the Bolgheri and Toscana IGT classifications.The Tenuta Argentiera Bolgheri estate is located on plateau, over looking the Tyrrhenian coastline. A 200 meter (656 feet) altitude creates a favourable microclimate, allowing sea breezes to penetrate the canopy and reduce the risk of various mildew disease. The name Argentiera is derived from the silver (“argento”) mines that once exsisted scattered throughout the landscape here.The main focus of the estate lies with its Bolgheri Superiore and Bolgheri Rosso wines. The flagship Argentiera Bolgheri Superiore is a blend typically of Cabernet Sauvignonand Merlot with a small portion of Cabernet Franc. It spends 18 months aging in French oak barriquesprior to 12 months in bottle before release.
