Reviews:
- Wine Advocate: The 2015 Oakville Estate Red is terrific. Rich, sumptuous and racy to the core, the Estate Red offers up a super-appealing melange of red cherry fruit, espresso, mint, spice and new leather. This is one of more medium-bodied wines of the vintage. Soft contours and silky tannins add to the wine’s considerable appeal. The 2015 has come together very nicely over the last year. Today, the new oak (95%) is a bit evident, but that should not be an issue over time.
- Wine Spectator: Deep and winey, with loam-infused blackberry, black currant and plum fruit set against a backdrop of menthol, savory and smoldering tobacco notes. Dark in profile, showing cut and drive on the enveloping finish. Will needs some time to unwind fully. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot.
Producer Information
Rudd Estate is a Napa Valley wine estate with vineyards in two of the region’s most notable AVAs: Oakville and Mount Veeder. It produces red wines based on the Cabernet Sauvignon grape variety, and white wines from Sauvignon Blanc, Sauvignon Gris and Sémillon. The estate was founded in 1996 by Leslie and Susan Rudd, after they purchased a property in Oakville. Since then, the Rudds have expanded the original winery and established an estate in the cooler conditions of Mount Veeder where the white varieties are planted at around 1500 feet (460 meters).
