Producer Information
Spottswoode is a historic, Napa Valley wine producer, located in St Helena. The family-owned estate have been producing wine from Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc and Syrah for multiple generations.The estate itself was established in 1882 by George Schonewald. As well as planting the vineyard, he also constructed the Victorian farmhouse which remains on the estate today. It came under its current ownership in 1972 when the Novak family purchased the estate. The first Cabernet Sauvignon wine released in 1982.Today, there is 42 acres (17 hectares) of vines planted, most of which are Cabernet Sauvignon. The vineyards have been certified organic since 1992.The flagship wine of the portfolio is the Spottswoode’s Estate Cabernet Sauvignon. It is aged for 20 months in French oak, two thirds of which is new, and depending on the vintage may have a proportion of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.
