Producer Information
Mas Martinet is a Spanish winery linked to the small group of winemakers attributed with reinvigorating Priorat as one of the country’s finest wine-producing regions. Garnacha is the most important grape in the vineyards and in the wines, making up the majority of many of Martinet’s blends. The winery dates back to 1989 when José Luis Pérez and the likes of René Barbier, Alvaro Palacios, Carles Pastrana and Dafne Glorian began reviving vineyards in Priorat. They produced their first wines together in the Clos Mogador winery before separating in the early 1990s to each found their own estates. Pérez founded Mas Martinet. The Clos Martinet is the flagship wine of the portfolio, a Garnacha-based red blend sourced from multiple vineyards within the company’s holdings. It is aged in both French oak barrels and clay amphora to create complexity.
