Old Hansford is created by the husband and wife team of Howie and Cindy Mosier. A mixture of high rye bourbon barrels from lower Indiana and Central Texas. In 1889, Hansford was the county seat of Hansford County. In 1920, the North Texas and Santa Fe Railway built a line from Shattuck, Oklahoma to its new town site of Spearman in southeastern Hansford County. By 1929, Spearman had grown to be the county seat and Hansford was on the way to becoming a ghost town. The people in that part of Texas refer to the old townsite as Old Hansford. Howie’s mother’s family is from Spearman and a good number of those relatives are buried at the Old Hansford Cemetery. My Great-great-grand father was the first sheriff of Hansford County, Robert Eli Martin.
