Producer Information
Domaine Touchais is a wine estate based in Doué-la-Fontaine (in the commune of Doué-en-Anjou) in the Anjou wine region of France’s Loire Valley. The estate is primarily known for its delayed-release Coteaux du Layon label, Moulin Touchais. The domaine was established in 1787 and its buildings now lie within the southern urban spread of Doué-la-Fontaine. The domaine’s vineyard holdings – primarily Chenin Blanc – lie to the west, in the communes of Tigné and Terranjou, in the Coteaux du Layon appellation area. The estate produces classic, botrytis-style, sweet white, Coteaux du Layon wines. Since the mid 20th Century, the domaine has maintained the practice of bottling its wines relatively soon (in the spring following harvest) but aging the bottles for extended periods (no less than 10 years) in the estate cellars. As such, vintage wines from the estate are frequently encountered on the market with over a decade’s worth of age.
