Distilled in Mauritius, this marvellous nine year old rum found its way to the fine folks at French indie bottler, Compagnie des Indes, who bottled it up for us all to enjoy! Boasting a wealth of aromatic spice and sweet, fruity sugar cane, it’s a superb sipper.

Compagnie des Indes Mauritius 9 Year Old | 700ML Tasting Notes

Nose: Like a lovely stroll through spice stalls. Black pepper, cumin, rice, starchy notes but also some sweetness with salted caramel aromas.

Palate: Well-rounded and fruity. It then develops aromas of red berries (strawberries, gooseberries), then evolves to pure cane juice, thus evoking its raw material.

Finish: Surprisingly, despite being nice and easy to begin with, it has quite a bitter finish, giving it a delicious balance.

Compagnie des Indes rums are produced with great care. The idea was brought to life in memory of the former East India Company from the seventeenth and eighteenth century that selected rare commodities from distant continents and imported them to their countries. Like them, we select only the best quality rums from all over the world and import these to Europe. Whether single casks or carefully selected blends – we always focus on bringing out the character and qualities of each local origin.
