This whiskey earned the name Classic Dublin Sipping Whiskey, which meant that it was perfect for contemplative sipping, preferably next to a glass of Guinness. In 1987, the rights to the Millars brand were acquired by Cooley Distillery, but it did not return to the market until September 1994 as Millars Black Label. In early 1996, its name was changed to Millars Special Reserve. Part of the grain whiskey used in the blend was aged in seasoned sherry casks.
